Was war f\u00fcr dich \u00fcberraschend oder neu, als du hier angekommen bist?<\/strong>What was surprising or new to you when you arrived here?<\/strong><\/em>Ich war \u00fcberrascht von den Superm\u00e4rkten. In Italien gibt es viel mehr internationale Superm\u00e4rkte wie zum Beispiel Carrefour. Hier in Deutschland scheint\u00a0der Lebensmittelhandel\u00a0vor allem aus deutschen Superm\u00e4rkten zu bestehen. Man findet auch viel mehr deutsche Produkte als italienische in Italien.
\nI was surprised by the supermarkets. In Italy there are more international supermarkets like Carrefour. Here in Germany the food trade sector seems to consist of mostly German supermarkets. You also find more German products than Italian products in Italy.<\/em><\/div>\n

\nWhat do you enjoy here?<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n
Ich genie\u00dfe es,\u00a0nach der Arbeit\u00a0mit meinen Kollegen in eine Kneipe zu gehen\u00a0und ein Bier zu trinken. Das machen wir in Italien nicht. Im Sommer war ich oft im Biergarten am Lister\u00a0Turm\u00a0– sehr gem\u00fctlich!
\nAu\u00dferdem genie\u00dfe ich die vielen verschiedenen Brotsorten.
\nI enjoy to go to a pub and have a beer with my collegues after work. We don’t have this habitude in Italy. In summer I was\u00a0often\u00a0in the Lister Turm beer garden – very gem\u00fctlich!
\nBesides I enjoy the variety of bread.

Die Sonne! Das Meer! Ich bin in einer Stadt am Meer aufgewachsen, in Neapel.
\nIch vermisse auch das Essen, besonders Pasta und Pizza. Und den Kaffee, er schmeckt mir hier nicht.
\nThe sun! The sea! I grew up in a town at the seaside, Naples.
\nI also miss the food, especially Pasta and Pizza. And the coffee, I don’t like the coffee here.

\n<\/em><\/em>Meine Lieblingsstadt in Deutschland ist M\u00fcnchen. Die Leute\u00a0sind herzlicher, finde ich. Ich war dort beim Oktoberfest und die Atmosph\u00e4re und das Zusammensein mit anderen\u00a0hat mir sehr gefallen.
\nMy favourite town in Germany is Munich. The people there\u00a0seem to be more warm-hearted. I\u00a0visited the Oktoberfest and\u00a0liked the atmosphere\u00a0and being together with other people.

\nWhat should you have done differently in the beginning? Do you have hints for expats\u00a0who\u00a0just arrived in Germany?<\/strong>
\n<\/em><\/em>Mein Tipp ist, den Umzug lange vorher zu planen. In Deutschland ist es \u00fcblich, Langzeit-Mietvertr\u00e4ge zu schlie\u00dfen; deshalb ist es wichtig, schon fr\u00fch\u00a0nach einer Wohnung zu suchen. Ich habe drei Monate gebraucht, bis ich eine Wohnung gefunden hatte.
\nMy advice:\u00a0start to plan your\u00a0relocation\u00a0early. In Germany it is usual to conclude\u00a0long-term rental agreements,\u00a0this is why it is important to start searching for a flat early. It took me\u00a0three months to find an apartment.

\n<\/strong>Mahlzeit!\u00a0Es ist ein Zeichen daf\u00fcr, dass wir bald zusammen\u00a0essen werden. Ein sch\u00f6nes Zeichen.
\nMahlzeit! (=An abreviation of\u00a0 the greeting “Gesegnete Mahlzeit!” meaning “Blessed Meal!” or today “Enjoy your meal!” <\/em>It is a sign that we will soon have food together. A nice sign.
